Central banks face a narrowing path as inflation persists

The macro environment is becoming more difficult to navigate.

As Jackie Bowie of Chatham Financial shared on Bloomberg Daybreak Europe, higher energy prices are still working through the system, keeping inflation elevated even as growth slows.

That creates a clear tradeoff. Central banks may need to act on inflation while the economy is already weakening, particularly in the UK.

At the same time, global policy paths are diverging. While the Fed is leaning toward easing, Europe and the UK remain focused on inflation risks, adding complexity for decision-makers.

It may not meet the technical definition of a recession. But it is increasingly likely to feel like one.

Clarity and perspective matter in this kind of environment.
